Americana Highway - April 2, 2006

Texas Music! Singers and songwriters from the Lone Star State are the showcase this week on WIVK's Americana Highway with Jack Ryan. If you like a little Western Swing mixed in with your Texas Two-Step with a dash of Honky Tonk and maybe even a smidge of the Blues...then this week is your week on The Americana Highway. Jack Ryan will be highlighting some great Texas Tunes including new music from Willie Nelson, The Dixie Chicks, James Hand, Kris Kristofferson, Randy Foster, Copperhead, Lee Roy Parnell and Miranda Lambert. Plus, you'll also hear our tribute to the late great...and Texas native...Buck Owens. The country legend who defined the Bakersfield Sound passed away on March 25th and we'll remember the pride of Sherman, Texas with perhaps his most autobiographical song: "The Streets Of Bakersfield".

Americana Highway - March 26, 2006

This week on WIVK's Americana Highway with Jack Ryan we're Under The Influence...of some great musicians, that is. Jack will be playing a whole bunch of cover songs on the show...songs you'll recognize, but by different singers than you might be used to. You'll hear songs from the 50's through 80's...all re-done by some of your favorite Bluegrass, Americana and Alt. Country singers and bands. Plus, Jack will also revisit an interview with Scott Miller from a few weeks back to find out what he thinks about cover songs...and just how he came to sing with Reagan Boggs on a Johnny Cash/June Carter cover that appears on her lastest cd. Americana Highway - March 5, 2006

This week on WIVK's Americana Highway we're keepin' it all in the family...as we salute those bluegrass, Americana, and Alt. Country siblings who are makin' great music with their mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, or sisters and brothers! Jack Ryan will be playing incredible music from family acts like The Judds, Cherryholmes, The Del McCoury Band and The Larkins. Plus you'll hear individual songs from the late great Waylon Jennings, his wife Jessi Colter and their son Shooter Jennings. Hank Williams Jr. has a new song out that you'll hear along with new music from his son Hank III and his daughter Holly Williams. Jack will be playing Roseanne Cash and Johnny Cash...Stella Parton and Dolly Parton, too! Also, joining Jack in studio this week are two brothers who have a new Sugar Hill cd out called "Red Letter Day" - Eric and Leigh - The Gibson Brothers.
